These sculptures are very small animal wall plaques, reminiscent of etchings or of scientific illustration, but in the round as bass relief wall plaques. The animal sculptures can be hung outdoors as well as indoors, and can also be cemented into place permanently as an architectural ceramic sculpture.

New Sculpture Wren miniature wall plaque 12cm x 12cm (5" x 5") £30 each plus postage or shipping Check availability. I had a wren flying about above my head in the studio when I carved this piece. We get rather a lot of wildlife in here! They are ferocious hunters and no spider is safe in its window with a wren around.

I've found dormice nests in my garden, beautifully made spherical woven grass caves. An endangered British animal but still clinging on in the south west.

Cinnabar moth on Ragrt Flower wall hanging sculpture in natural light outdoors.

New Sculpture Cinnabar Moth with Ragwort flower miniature wall plaque 12cm x 12cm (5" x 5") £30 each plus postage or shipping Check availability. This sculpture can be displayed in many directions including diagonally. I haven't seen a cinnabar moth since I've been in Devon, so about 10 years now. I think it must be because of the hysteria about ragwort, its' parent plant, which is toxic to cattle and horses. I've had people come into my garden and cut down ragwort I've let grow there, even 'tho there is no way a horse could get into my garden and graze it by accident. I miss the friendliness and curiosity of these beautiful daytime flying moths.

Maybug (Cockchafer) wall hanging ceramic sculpture with underglaze and copper wash by Ama Menec.    May Bug or Cockchafer wall hanging sculpture with underglase colours and copper wash in natural light.

New Sculpture May Bug (Cockchafer) miniature wall plaque 12cm x 12cm (5" x 5") £30 each plus postage or shipping Check availability. This sculpture can be displayed in many directions including diagonally. This spring, when working late into the night at the studio, I was startled by a very loud buzzing in the redundant pipe work above my head, two evenings in a row. On the second evening the buzzing stopped suddenly, followed by a loud SMACK as a maybug landed 6 inches away from me on my workbench. I winced in sympathy as I realised this beetle had just fallen about 15 feet, but after a few seconds it got up and started marching towards the edge of the desk, not harmed in the slightest.

The west country coast, and South Devon in particular, still has colonies of both types of seahorse found in the UK, of which this is one.
